UW Outlines Potential Budget Cuts: Contact Your Legislators Today!

Dear Graduate students,
The Washington State Legislature asked the University of Washington to outline several budget cut scenarios: the initial proposal from the governor (a $189 million cut), the governor’s proposed cut plus 15% (a $218 million cut), and the governor’s proposed cut plus 30% (a $250 million cut). UW President Phyllis Wise’s response outlines how the highest level of cuts would likely impact the UW – see details below.

Childcare Bill Hearing - Wednesday, 2/23
Senator Lisa Brown is sponsoring a GPSS-requested bill, SB 5795 Higher Education Child Care Grants, that proposes to reinstate and increase funding for the Child Care Matching Grant Program.

What: Meet with your state legislators in Olympia and speak up for higher education.

ASUW Off-Campus Housing Affairs Advisory Committee
This committee serves as a collective voice of students who wish to express ideas, thoughts, and concerns regarding the nature of housing around the campus to better inform the leadership of the Office of Off-Campus Housing Affairs. We will be discussing the policies on a local and city level, including the office's posting policy, complaint policy, and the Department of Development and Planning's Housing Inspection Program, along with various housing related programs and events. Meetings are an hour to an hour and a half biweekly (once every two weeks).
